Jonathan Adler for TOMS

No one in their right mind would refer to me as a fashionista, but I am a huge fan of designer, Jonathan Adler. I'm also a huge fan of TOMS. It appears these two have paired up and I must say, I'm a fan!

Which one's your fav? The navy blue sandals are calling my name!

Needlepoint chair

I've been on the lookout for a little chair to compliment the desk next to our bed. While out thrifting one day, I ran across this cute, needlepoint chair for $17 and knew it'd do the trick.
I had every intention of recovering it with a more modern fabric but once I got it home it became very obvious that it was perfect as is. Score! I'm all about less work. (side note, doesn't everyone keep a spittoon next to their bed? You didn't know I had a nasty habit, did you?! ;)

The golden tones tied right in with the chair across the room. Love it when things work out by happy accident!

Here you can get a better feel for the vintage details...floral needlepoint and wonderful brass capped feet.
I'm also really enjoying the faux sheepskin rug from Ikea. It's softness greets me every morning when my feet first touch the ground. Nothing like starting your day with a soft, little hug from the floor! Think I'm strange?...give it a try before you judge, you'll thank me for it.

Giant Round Mirrors

I've never thought of a round mirror as a floor mirror, but I must say, I'm a fan...

On the floor or on the wall, I'm still a fan...

Giant is good.

A Birthday wish...

Happy Valentine's Day, friends! Guess what else we celebrate around our house on this heart-filled day? Yep, you guessed it, my birthday.
Want to know what I'm wishing for today? For each of you to find a deserving someone and spread a little kindness. Will you join me in a birthday RAK? What an easy day to complete a random act of kindness! The stores are overflowing with flowers and candy, so pick up a little something for that person who seems to need a little pick me up today and let them know they're special. It could also simply be a smile and a kind word. Take a minute to look at their heart!

Client Boards and a little before/after pic

I've been blessed with a few new clients since moving to town. It takes a lot of effort to rebuild a business but things are picking up and I have a bit of progress to share with you today.

This board is fresh off the press. I haven't even heard my client's response to it yet! I stopped by his house this weekend to drop off drapes and he mentioned he'd like help finding a guest bed. Next thing you know his guest room came to life. It only takes a single inspiration piece and in this case it started with the bed...
I'm pretty much in love with this room, so if he doesn't give me a thumbs up it's still a win/win situation. After all, I still have a guest room that needs to be decorated. (wink, wink)

I know I shared the great wingback chair from this board but don't think I ever got around to showing you guys the rest of the room.
I'm excited to say we made some major progress this weekend and we're about ready to call this room done.

My client sent me some pictures this evening. Here's a phone pic from our initial consultation.

And, here's what he was proudly sharing with me.
AFTER:
Hang 'em high, friends, hang 'em high. Yet another case and point!

And, yes, this is a very odd place to put the television, but when you're designing for a single man the television is certainly MEANT to be the focal. ha! Well, to be honest, he knew it was bad placement but we were also working around impossible dropping of wires and a built-in that was built prior to ginormous televisions.

Boy Valentine Box Idea

It's that time of year for those of you with school age kiddos...bust out the shoe box or cereal box and create a masterpiece so your little one can collect those ever so fascinating Valentine treasures! I can't believe this is the last year we'll be making Valentine boxes. Bryn was so sad that she didn't get to weigh in on the fun this year. It's a bummer to grow up sometimes. ;)

If you have a boy, you know that this task isn't always an easy one. I mean, they can't show up with a box covered in hearts, right? Reed and I brainstormed for a few days, did the obligatory Pinterest search, but came up empty handed for ideas. There aren't many "boy" ideas floating around.

It was crunch time Thursday night, since his box had to be turned in Friday (not sure why in the world his teacher needed these so early?!). We were about to give up the fight for creativity and simply use the traditional heart idea then suddenly Reed had a stroke of genius! As he was rifling through the craft closet he came out holding snake print wrapping paper. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
We wrapped his cereal box, leaving the top open for treasures, cut out a forked tongue for a 3-D effect, glued on the rest and wolla...a Valentine box that screams boy!

Bryn admired our masterpiece and preceded to ask if we "got that idea from Pinterest?" We proudly proclaimed, "No, it's a Frieling original!"

Okay, boy moms, it's your turn. Spill the beans on what you've done/are doing so the rest of us can cash in on your brilliant ideas.
