Slow and Steady Progress

I've been making baby steps towards redoing my daughter's bedroom. Since it's going to pretty much be a complete overhaul, we're taking it slow. These types of projects can rack up the $$ really quickly, hence why I'm taking it slow. If you missed the original plans for her room, just click here for the Woodland goodness.

Yesterday I stumbled upon a great little antique/thrift store in town and scooped up 5 of these pretties.
Above is a picture I pinned on Pinterest and below are the agates I purchased. Pretty dead one, right? It's a cloudy day here so the true beauty of these stones is muted a bit. Can you believe these come from a volcano? Makes you wonder what else is hidden deep within the earth that we're not privy to! Great lesson on the beauty within.

So, what am I planning on doing with these? The picture below might give you a good idea.

I'm envisioning five frames with gallery mats to line one of her walls. My daughter was so excited when she came home from school and saw her new agates. She's collected rocks since her toddler days and it cracks me up how something so simple can bring her such joy. Much to learn from this little one, I tell ya! I will certainly miss the day when I do a load of laundry and don't hear the clink-clank of stones tumbling in the dryer.

We've made a few other purchases along the way and the bedding came in from West Elm. I was very pleased with the colors. It's much more muted than it appears in the catalog.

I found this awesome side table at Ross about a month ago. It's a little funky but I love it!

Beds have been on the brain this week. Here are a few DIY options that John and I are considering tackling.
I love the texture of this one. Carmel, from Our Fifth House, made this using an old door, rope and lots of hot glue. Creative, right?

I'm drawn to this design because the chevron pattern makes me think of tree branches. Great for a woodland room, but lots more work than the one above. Decisions, decisions!

So friends, I hope you take away with you today that great rooms don't happen overnight. Sometimes the fantasy world of blogland can create this illusion, especially when you look at awesome before and after pictures. Don't get frustrated if your home isn't completely decorated or if you're taking forever to finish a project. I've seen many projects only get better with time!

I'm headed to Dallas this weekend for a bridal shower for my future sister-in-law. One more week until the wedding! John and I will have married off both of our brothers within a month of each other. Hooray for a growing family!

I hope you guys take time to enjoy the ones you love this weekend.
