Fiddle Leaf Fig Love on Houzz

I had a fun little surprise this week when Houzz reached out and let me know they used one of my photos in an article this week. This one to be exact...

Click here to read the entire article. They give great tips on how to care for these beauties too!

We're in need of a little rest (with all the insane house stuff happening these days) so we're off to enjoy this scenery for the next week...

I can't wait! Enjoying God's gorgeous creation is just what we need. And, hopefully, we'll have a closing date set when we return. Praying hard!

My House on Houzz!

I'm super excited today to share some really good news. My humble abode is getting some love over at Houzz! I had the pleasure of working with staff writer, Vanessa Brunner throughout the process and she was awesome.

See?...there it is! Can you believe it? (Big green arrows, in case you were wondering)

Want to know how it all went down? Well, it all started 4 score and seven years ago in January when Vanessa contacted me about a series she was putting together about DIY design projects. She had somehow run across my diamond wall and asked if she could feature it. I was quick to tell her, "No, don't bother." Yeah right, and you're c.r.a.z.y. if you believe that! Of course, I said yes and she gave me the date it should run.

Well, that date came and went and I thought I had missed it somehow. Houzz is a huge site and I figured I just didn't know where to look to find it. So, I sent her an email and asked for a link to the article because 'I'm the dummy who missed my own feature.'

Vanessa responded and told me I didn't miss it and that her editor had seen my house photos and thought they could possibly do an entire house tour instead of just the diamond wall feature. Holy moly! Too fun!

She asked me to create a professional profile and upload my photos. Well, wouldn't you know it that my pictures weren't the right size. Picture sizing might possibly send me to an early grave. Here's the main reason I say Vanessa was such a pleasure to work with...she didn't make me feel stupid once, even when I kept sending the wrong sizes to her. Finally, I had to contact the photographer and luckily she hadn't deleted my photos. Problem solved.

Next, Vanessa sent me this list of interview questions:

Where is this home located? How long have you lived here?
-How many rooms/square feet is your home?
-Who lives here? (Just yourself? Any pets?)
-What inspired you when designing your home's decor?
-Where do you like to go to find product? What inspires you when you decide to make something yourself?
-Are there any pieces of product in this house that you are really excited about?
-What is your favorite room in this house?
-What sorts of challenges did you come across?
-How did you go about choosing your color palette?
-What is your favorite part about your home?
-What's one thing you wish you could change about your house?

After the personal questions, then you have the sourcing questions. She basically went through each room and asked for paint colors and where products were purchased. I had to stretch my brain a little on this one and pull out the archives!

So 25 emails later, it's all in her hands. She creates the 'tour,' sends it to her editor and we wait for it to go live. She was kind enough to send me an email last night to let me know it was up.

Have a great weekend, friends!
