New home inspiration

We may not have a new place to call home just yet, that's not stopping me from gathering inspiration and dream planning. If you want to follow along, my Dallas pinterest board holds all the treasures.

Available at onefortythree.

Perhaps I'm drawn to this because I'm still waiting on my "lightbulb moment." Or, maybe it's simply because it's plain, brass and awesome!

I'm still loving gallery walls, but in the next house, I'm having an all white vision. Wonder if I could pull it off?

Many of the homes we're looking at are much smaller than our existing one. The above shelving option is so smart and such a great use of space. Don't have enough room for a big piece of furniture?...floating shelves are your answer.

My daily roller coaster of emotions continues concerning our move. I'm fortunate to have a husband who can stomach my ups, downs and loops. He forwarded me his daily devotion this morning and it is perfect. Love it when God speaks straight to my heart, at just the right time. I'm passing on these wonderful words just in case there's someone else out there in need of a little encouragement.

TRUST ME, and don't be afraid. Many things feel out of control
Your routines are not running smoothly. You tend to feel more secure when your life is predictable.
Let Me lead you to the rock that is higher than you and your circumstances.
Take refuge in the shelter of My wings,
where you are absolutely secure.

When you are shaken out of your comfortable routines, grip My hand tightly and look for growth opportunities. Instead of bemoaning the loss of your comfort,
accept the challenge of something new.
I lead you on from glory to glory, making you fit for My kingdom.
Say yes to the ways I work in your life. Trust Me, and don't be afraid.

"Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, God, is my strength and my song, he has become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2

"From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in your wings." Psalm 61: 2-4

Look for Less

There's no denying that gallery walls and wrapped canvas portraits are trending right now. I absolutely love the look below, but can you imagine how much it would cost to decorate your own house this way?! Crazy money, I tell ya!

I worked with two friends recently and have found myself suggesting they attempt this look through do-it-yourself projects. There are so many creative ways to obtain this look without going broke. Here's my luck, I save and save, then finally pull the trigger only to realize that a week later it's no longer the trend! Anyone else realize you can drive yourself batty trying to stay up with the trends? Friends, find a trend you love, love and run with it. It won't matter when it changes if it's something you enjoy looking at or living in everyday.

Here are two great tutorials that will help you make a gallery wall that's just as beautiful.

Just click on the link for a step by step, how-to and find out what supplies you'll need to have on hand.

This tutorial really surprised me when I read the supply list. That nice, thick look is achieved by wrapping inexpensive black fabric around insulation foam! Time saving tip- have the friends at Home Depot cut it in the exact sizes you need so that's one less step you have to do on your own. Don't you just love those Home Depot guys?!

Feeling inspired yet? I'd love to see your project. Send me a picture!
