Client Before/Afters

I was super thrilled when a client reached out to me with her before/after shots. She contacted me for a consultation back in May. We spent about 2 hours together and I offered her what I like to call a "brain dump." This is where I get to go into your house and dump a ton of ideas on you then you're free to do with them as you please.

She was very upfront about only needing a consultation and knew she didn't need my services beyond that point. Let me tell ya, friends, it's perfectly okay to do this! If you have confidence in your own ability to pick finishes but just need a little direction/push to get started, then by all means hire a designer for a consultation then do the legwork yourself.

I'd say this set up worked out great in my client's situation! She did a killer job at picking finishes and creating a beautiful kitchen.

Here's a different angle but it's during the construction process so the backsplash wasn't installed yet.

Speaking of backsplash...the marble looks gorgeous, doesn't it?!

A big thank you to my client for allowing me to show off her blood, sweat and tears hard work and amazing before/after shots. I'm sure you're absolutely loving your majorly updated kitchen!

Kitchen Remodel Before and After

I'm so excited to show you the full reveal today of my clients' kitchen remodel. This family was great to work with and now that it's over I'm kind of having withdrawal symptoms!

Let's take a peek at where we started...a kitchen with great bones but definitely dated.

After:
Go ahead and gasp, because it's totally gasp worthy!

Our initial consultation left me with a wife who leaned toward rustic touches and a husband who wanted a contemporary/industrial feel. Well, I'd say we married their tastes pretty darn well!

An entire counter length full of cabinets...ahhh, function...it's such a great thing.

Must I even write a caption for this picture? I think it speaks for itself...love it!

No need to drive to Sonic for an icy drink, they've got Sonic ice right in their kitchen.

Amazing new appliances. The refrigerator/freezer are two full size beasts. No lack of freezer space in this house. You have to have massive muscles to open these babies...they. are. solid. Hmmm, possible new diet strategy?

Beautiful walnut-stained contrasting island with fun hardware. By the way, in case you're wondering, the cabinets are painted Benjamin Moore's Navajo White and the walls are Benjamin Moore's Herbal Escape.

See the faucet?...it's a touch faucet. Someone was very smart when they invented this feature.

A look at the accessories.

They kept their original table and we added a fun rug. Does anyone else love their amazing light as much as I do?!

Only thing left to do is add several cream curtain panels to soften this space up.

And one last gander at their gorgeous new kitchen...

A huge thank you to my clients for trusting me with such a giant project. It's my prayer that this space makes your heart smile every time you walk into it!

If you're thinking about a remodel or in need of a little direction on your next home project, please contact me. I'd love to work with you.

Kitchen Remodel Update

Happy Friday, friends. This is the last kitchen update before you get to see the entire reveal. Boy, oh boy, it's quite the reveal...so beautiful! We're so close we can taste it. Just waiting on hardware and installation then it's a done deal.

Today's snippets include floors, stools and island hardware.

Let's talk floors. During our initial consultation, I asked loads of questions to feel them out and understand my clients' tastes and preferences. I kept hearing "slate, slate, slate," and "I really like slate." So when the time came to shop for flooring, I kept this in mind and led them to an alternative that was similar in terms of coloring, but read as more contemporary and up to date.

I love the color variation in this tile and how it really accents every single element around it.
Their original flooring was Cherry wood and extremely soft. It doesn't make sense to put such a soft wood in a kitchen since it's bound to get tons of nicks and scrapes. They were more than happy to replace it with something much more durable.

I was super pleased when Mr. Client randomly said one day, "I love these floors!" It's so much fun when clients are willing to be pushed a bit beyond what they initially had in mind.

We did a little reconfiguring with their bar to make it more functional. This meant bar stools were in order. Mrs. Client send me pictures of a few styles she liked at Pottery Barn and following a discussion or two about color, they ended up with these...

Okay, so we've covered floors and stools so that leaves us with hardware. Since you got a peek at the island you already know it's stained a contrasting color from the cabinets. To highlight this feature even further, we sought out knobs and pulls that blend but don't match.

We found these at Hobby Lobby and loved them. Not to mention the price wasn't bad either. You can't beat half off of $5.99 and $7.99!

Here's the last piece of the puzzle...

the remainder of the pulls that will complete this amazing transformation.

Hope you're weekend is happy friends and that there's a little kindness sprinkled in.

Rome wasn't built in a day...

and neither was this kitchen remodel!

Dreams of this kitchen remodel began back in November. My clients had plans of purchasing new appliances and needed help "making them fit." We put our heads together, discussed the options and began planning.

Initially, the plan was only to bring in new appliances and reconfigure the cabinets a bit. But, with further discussion of their options, we moved from a few updates to a complete remodel!

Oops...their new rug made it's debut a little too early. Forget you saw it!

Six months later, the work begins...
Down with the cabinets, down with the wallpaper, out with the floor, etc., etc.

What's in store? I'm so glad you asked.

Let's break it down...
custom cabinets
new counter tops
subway tile backsplash
new appliances
new shades/drapes
under cabinet lighting
upper cabinet lighting
pendant lights over the island
gorgeous fixture over the dining table
apron front sink
new flooring

They're going to feel like they're living in a new house when all is said and done! I hope you'll follow along with the progress. It'll definitely be worth the trip, friends.
