Bathroom Cabinet Before and After

Our master bath has a tiny 'toilet room' that houses the toilet and shower. One of the first things we did after moving in was remove the doors from the cabinet above the toilet. It was a must to make this space feel larger.

Before:
We ripped the doors off so quick that I don't have a proper before picture. Here's a picture of the other cabinets so you'll have an idea of what the area looked like with the doors. They have a really bad stain job and the color is, well, just yucky.

After:

Here's a basic breakdown of the details:

There are a handful of steps not represented here, like using wood filler to patch the holes left behind from door hinges and caulking around the stained panels and trim pieces.

Curious what products we used? Here are the main players:

One last look at the finished project...
Ahhh, much better!

I would have never thought this would have made such an impact. So in love with this! Great job and thanks for taking the time to explain the process behind the scenes.

Looks straight out of West Elm, girl!!! Such an awesome idea to give it some style and open up the space a bit! I know you've got more those, keep 'em coming! :)

Question: would removing that middle vertical support piece work if you were storing heavier things? I wanted to take off those pieces on my (open) kitchen cabinets, but they are the only supports that the middle of the shelf, and I'm terrified my plates would come crashing down 3 minutes after I walk away.

The stained pieces covering the back supports is BRILLIANT!!
