Fancy Floors

Floors...let's talk about them. Have you put much thought into what a huge impact flooring can have in a room? In today's trendy neutral spaces, floors are being used as the show stopper, i.e. the wow factor.

Here's a mix of swanky floors and practical floors to show you exactly what I mean...

I've built 2 houses and both times I skimped on the floors. If I were to have a third chance, I'd definitely pay more attention to this area. I think it's a natural assumption that a fancy pattern is going to cost a ton more in labor. But think about it, if you had amazing floors there wouldn't be a need to buy a rug to cover them up, hence, saving you at least $300. There's your cost in labor!

Now, let's be practical. You're clearly not going to be replacing your floors often so it's important to keep your floors somewhat neutral. But, you can still go neutral while adding visual interest through pattern.

Enjoy your weekend!
(I'm 98% sure I'll have guest room photos for you next week!!)

Love that gorgeous herringbone pattern! Sounds like you (or your pal) has a diy weekend planned ~ can't wait to see the reveal!

The herringbone is stunning in the marble. One tends to go neutral with these but you are right, it could be reversed with patterned flooring and neutral rug. Enjoy your weekend, Dana! Look forward to seeing the guest room.

Oooh this is inspiring. We do actually need to replace flooring at some point. I think the herringbone tile or some flashy floor pattern would be great in a bathroom…..although the herringbone hardwood floor in that kitchen is sweet. Hmmmm….food for thought. Thank you for bringing it to my attention!
