Color Schemes Via Nature

Good Monday morning, friends! It's a school holiday in our neck of the woods so we're off to a slow and restful start. Don't you wish this was a scratch-and-sniff image so you could take a minute to smell the roses?

We were recently put on crazy, strict water restrictions so I can't give my flowers anything to drink for the next 2 weeks! I figured this didn't spell out good news so I decided to snap a few photos of our flowers in their glory before they're subjected to dying of thirst.

As I was looking at these pretties, I began to look a little deeper and realized this is a great way to find color inspiration when deciding on a color scheme in decorating. Isn't it funny to think that your next walk to the mailbox might result in the colors of your next bedroom?!

Having trouble following me? Let me demonstrate. Take the picture below, if you look close you will see 3 dominant colors. I've given you paint samples to make this a literal translation.

The blue and green are easy to pick up on, but don't forget the color of the rocks. This color would serve as your base color in the room, then you could accent with your brighter colors. Neat, huh?

Let's give it another try with Lantana.

I think this color scheme would make a killer nursery that would transition well into a big girl's room!

So next time you walk outside, take a minute to really soak in your surroundings. Look at nature and its beauty and allow yourself to be inspired!

If you're interested in any of the above colors you can click here to learn the names.

Need a little help? I'd love to help you pick out colors for your home. Contact me and let's start planning!
