Like it or not, hunting is a big deal in our house. The boys are all about it, the girls...not so much. We support them in their hobby but don't call ourselves active participants. But, when your son gets his first buck at the ripe 'ol age of 8y.o., it's kinda a big deal!
The stories have been told, awards have even been given (yes, literally) and now we have an original piece of art to mark the event. My dad couldn't wait to get his hands on the picture of Reed and his deer. This week he finished it and Reed was beside himself when Lil' Paw Paw came over to deliver it!
Doesn't the smile on Reed's face say it all?!
Want to compare? Above is the original picture and below is my dad's work.
His medium is pencil, drawn on foam board. It's hard to tell, but there's a 3-dimensional aspect to it. So cool!I love, love, love having personal artwork adorn the walls of our home. If you have an artist in your family make sure you capitalize on their talents. These are the elements that make your house a home.
Want to know more about my dad's art? One of my first posts shared his story of how God used this talent to help him through recovering from a brain injury. It's an incredible story...read it here.
I hope you have a happy weekend, friends. Thanks for sharing your time with me today!

WOW!! Your dad is so talented!! I don't find this offensive at all; I'm from the Midwest! Reed will cherish this art forever. :)
i am not a hunter and could never be, but we have hunters in our family and tons that live in our area.... i am not offended as long as the kill is something that is overpopulated and will be used for meat as well. i don't like it when it's say, an elephant.... fair enough? ;)
and that being said, i LOVE the artwork- it's very impressive!!!
Dana! Your dad is undeniably amazing! I see where your talent comes from. Happy Reed, Happy Paw Paw, that is absolutely priceless.
Wow - your dad is an amazing artist and I love the 3D effect!!
Wow, your dad is talented! My husband is a hunter - he actually put up two deer stands in our yard! I know... we do have a couple of acres and you can't see them from the house, but still. So, I can understand supporting them... Congrats to Reed!
